This is going to be one of the largest hydroponic greenhouses in the Midwest.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Leaders of the city of South Bend see greenery in the growing indoor farming operations on the southwest side of the city.
Pure Green Farms harvested its first crop of lettuce in 2021 after investing $25 million in a hydroponic greenhouse near Calvert Street.
Now, another 100 acres are being developed for indoor farming, for a total investment of about $100 million, making it one of the largest investments in the region in the past 20 years.
“This is going to be one of the largest hydroponic greenhouses in the Midwest, so we’re going to be called the salad bowl of the Midwest,” said Sheila Niezgodski, an Assemblywoman for the Sixth District of South Bend."It's exciting to have a development like this in South Bend, especially in my area."
When completed, the indoor farming facility will be used to grow strawberries and tomatoes.At least 100 jobs will be created in the process.
