Thailand will begin legalizing marijuana on 9th June, the first of its kind in Asia, as it seeks to grab a share of the growing market for edibles and medicinal cannabis treatments.

Growing and trading hemp and hemp products will no longer be a crime, a move aimed at supporting the country's vital agriculture and tourism industries.However, the prospects for Thailand's cannabis trade will be constrained by the country's ban on recreational use and the production of anything containing more than 0.2% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a substance that gives users a "high" feeling Psychoactive compounds.
